My VERY FAVORITE MOVIE is All About Eve (1950), directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz.
I mention this first and *then* do my top 25 because I actually have a Top 26, and couldn't narrow one down. Now, 26 is a fine number, it being twice thirteen and 2+6 being 8 and that being twice four, and it's also 4x6+2, or 3x10-4, and I'm not at all out to degrade the number 26. However, in top ten lists, generally you have a number that's a multiple of five for your lists. I ask all complaints to be sent to those controlling the most popular top whatever lists, who have their ruddy fists gripped onto multiples of five. I'm only one person; can I change the world?
No and yes, but anyway, I like the number 25 better than 26, and that decides it. 25 is 5 squared, and that means it wins.
So. Ahem. After that one movie which I'm putting up as an exemplar away from the others, unreachable by the rest, here are my top five-squared favorites of movies.
