Analyzing Yoda's Grammatical Syntax
(informally)
It is based loosely upon English's own syntax, which is a shame. It's obvious that George Lucas has no idea how languages are made, and that he just took what sentences he wanted from English and switched around the words, not paying attention to any grammatical rules. And so, because it was based not upon grammatical rules but upon quick twisting of English words in different circumstances (sometimes he ends with a helping verb, sometimes a main verb, sometimes an object, sometimes a participle, sometimes...yeah, on and on and on, hardly ever consistent, completely based upon the English and not upon actual grammatical rules), it was simply not proper syntax.
Really, it's like making your own translation of a language by looking at seven other English translations, and not paying attention to the original source language. I doubt there would ever be a language with the grammatical syntax the way Yoda says it. Sigh.
Though it was interesting to see how he did it for a negative conditional.
